Richland is the smallest of the actual Tri-Cities, with population estimated at about 56,000 as of 2019.
In central Richland you’ll find the "alphabet" houses, which the government built in the 1940’s to house the Manhattan Project workers. Located nearby, there are Richland ranchers, 1200 square feet, 3 bedroom, 1 bath homes built in the mid to late ’40’s.
South Richland, beyond where the Yakima and Columbia Rivers meet, has newer homes and communities. Across Hwy. 240 is the Horn Rapids development, a golf community that continues to grow.
